Empties // January 2015

empties january 2015 rottenotter rotten otter blog 3 Garnier Micellar Water // This comes quite close to beating or at least extremely similar to Bioderma but the main benefit is that it's about a quarter of the price. Also it's a lot easier to get a hold of as I can buy it from Asda or Boots. I'll still buy Bioderma but for now I think I'll be sticking with Garnier. It takes all my eye make-up off without irritating my eyes or skin and with hardly any effort.

Caudalie Micellar Water // I'd forgotten how much I liked this micellar water as I hadn't used it for a while. I had a £7 voucher to spend on a Caudalie product from Essentual and as I didn't really need any other products I went for a bottle of micellar water. I only tend to use this to remove my eye make-up but it does a really good job and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. I also love the grape scent! I'm currently using a bottle of Bioderma but I'd buy another bottle of this at some point in the future.

Trilogy Cream Cleanser // I’ve liked all the Trilogy products I’ve tried so far and this is no different. I liked using this when I didn’t feel like using a balm cleanser but still wanted something would hydrate my skin especially if it was irritated or being particularly sensitive. The bottle and pump made it really easy to apply and I simply removed it with a muslin cloth or flannel. I would buy this again although I’m currently using a similar product from Caudalie.

Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner // Not only is the packaging really nice, the toner itself is as well. I would buy another bottle at some point but I’m currently using a toner from Origins.

Deep Steep Lavender Chamomile Foaming Hand Soap // Unlike the hand soap I finished last month from Deep Steep, the brown sugar scent, I really loved this lavender version. I'd definitely buy it again but I did use it up quite quickly.

The Body Shop Honeymania Bath Soak // This was essentially a bubble bath and I really enjoyed using it. I used a Laura Mercier honey dipper but you can just as easily use your hands to scoop some out or pour it into running water. I don't think I'd buy another tub unless I was able to use a discount code or if it was on offer as £8 is quite a lot considering how quickly I finished it. I think I only paid half price for it though which makes it a lot better. The scent was a lot more floral than I was expecting, think honeysuckle rather than honey, but I did like it.

L'Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate //  I really liked the texture of this body moisturiser. It had a sort of gel texture which meant it sunk in really quickly and didn’t feel too heavy on the skin. I also really liked the almond scent and being able to combine it with the almond shower oil. I’m currently using a A-derma moisturiser so don’t need to think about buying a new one just yet, I will keep this one in mind though.

Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream // This is an incredibly moisturising hand cream that feels more like a balm. It's one I only used at night as it took a while to sink in and even then my hands still felt a bit sticky and greasy. It's one I reached for when I'd just taken off a gel manicure and my hands and cuticles needed an extreme boost of moisturiser. I'm not going to rush out and buy another tube as I'm currently trying to use up a few other hand creams but I'd definitely buy it again in the future.

Lush Luxury Lush Pud Bath Ballistic // I wasn't really a fan of the scent of this and much preferred the bath bomb when it was smaller in looked more realistic and like a Christmas pudding. Apparently this smelt like the Twilight bath bomb but I didn't really think so, I didn't really like it whatever it was. Now I've tried it I wouldn't buy it again if it's available next year.

Lush Golden Wonder Bath Bomb // This was packed full of golden shimmer and as it fizzed away, it turned different colours which are the presents inside. I went for the alcohol free version as I thought it might be better for my skin, I couldn't really tell the difference. This had a citrus scent although I couldn't pinpoint any specifics.

Lush Father Christmas Bath Bomb // This started fizzing away red but eventually turned my bath water green which you wouldn't expect from looking at the santa face. This had the sickly sweet snow fairy scent which I was surprised about. Last year and maybe even the year before this was orange scented but for some reason they changed this to the Dashing Santa bath bomb. I like the snow fairy scent so I wasn't too upset!

Lush Star Light, Star Bright Bath Melt // Despite this being absolutely covered in silver glitter, it turned into more of a shimmer once in the water so it didn't stick to my skin like other Lush products have. I also could have split this into two and got more out of my money but I only realised this once I put it in the water and how slowly it melted. What I didn't know or expected was there to be a blue centre which slowly turned my water blue. As with all of the Lush bath melts, this made the bath water incredibly moisturising and I didn't need to follow up with a separate moisturiser. If this came out again next Christmas I'd definitely buy some more. The scent was really nice as well, a mix of ginger, lavender and lime.

Lush Dashing Santa Bath Bomb // I really liked the citrus scent of this bath bomb but the rest of it was a bit boring. It fizzed away slowly and turned my bath an pinky orange with gold shimmer but there wasn't really anything fun to watch like the others. It was the most moisturising bath bomb I've tried though and I didn't have to moisturise afterwards. I sort of feel like if you're paying £3+ for a one use bath bomb then it has to be impressive, this wasn't really.

Lush Cinders Bath Bomb // I always buy a couple of Cinders bath bombs each year as I love the scent and also the smaller size. They're usually about half the price and half the size of normal bath bombs which I prefer as I have quite a small bath and it doesn't seem as such a waste with only one use. I love the Christmas scent and also that you can hear the popping candy fizzing away when you add it to the water. I'm not a huge fan of the colour of the water it turns but I can ignore that.

Lush So White Bath Bomb // This is another one that I buy year after year as the unusual fresh apple scent smells amazing. It turns your water a subtle pink and I used the So White shower gel at the same time.
empties january 2015 rottenotter rotten otter blog 2 Ojon Damage Reverse Shampoo & Conditioner // I got these two when Ojon last had the offer on where if you took an empty shampoo or conditioner bottle into store then you got a bottle for free. It's taken me quite a while to use them both up as I discovered Philip Kingsley Itchy Scalp shampoo shortly after getting them and I had a few other conditioners to use up first. I liked the shampoo as it didn't irritate my sensitive scalp but I have to say I didn't notice much of a difference as far as the damage reverse aspect goes. I kind of feel when it comes to hair, if it's already damaged then there's nothing you can really do apart from having a hair cut. I don't think I'd buy these full price but would get them again if there's another offer on.

Phyto 9 Nourishing Day Cream // I've heard people rave about this leave-in conditioner type cream so I bought probably more than a year ago now and it's taken me this long to use it up. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with it. Despite going through the whole tube, I never really felt like I knew how to use it. I tried applying it to both wet and dry hair and it just left my hair feeling sticky and looking a bit greasy. I tried using less and less product but still got the same result. I saved it for days when I was wearing my hair up anyway before washing but wanted that extra bit of moisture to the ends. I'm glad I was able to use it all up and not throw away a nearly full product but I won't be buying it again.

Orly Bonder Base Coat

This nail polish has been on my wishlist ever since it was released. I'm not even sure why I'm drawn to this polish so much but I love the unusual shade of green. It's pastel but not the standard mint green I usually go for. Unfortunately the amount of coats I needed for it to become opaque is what would put me off wearing it on a daily basis. With a base and top coat that's six coats of nail polish in total which is a bit crazy it you think of all the drying time needed in between coats. NYX Pastel Pistachio is a similar colour but with a better formula so I'd probably reach for that more over this one which is a shame.

Skin Care Diary // January 2015

Through out each month I'll be keeping a skin care diary and jotting down what I use on an every day basis. At the end of the month I'll tally up what has been used the most and share the products with you. I have combination skin that can change between being extremely dry, spot prone, oily and sensitive as well as having eczema flare ups.
skin care diary products january 2015 rottenotter rotten otter blog

This months mix of skin care products are a bit different to what I would have used normally. For two and a half weeks this month I house sat for a family friend and looked after their crazy cat. I decided to make the most of my sample stash and tried to bring mini size versions of everything so I had less to take with me. A few of these I've used before and have already gone through the full sizes. I'd forgotten how much I liked the balance Me Cleanser and REN toner. I've wanted to repurchase the REN toner since I finished my first bottle way back in 2013 but it's always been sold out or unavailable. Luckily I saw it in the Space NK sale in a set with an eye gel and serum. It was only £15 and I was intrigued by the serum. Other than that my skin has been pretty stable which is good. No new eczema flare ups or crazy breakouts.

Favourites // January 2015

january 2015 beauty favourites rottenotter rotten otter blog
The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector | £5 for 30ml or £11 for 100ml // I bought this quite a while ago and used it a lot but then I just sort of forgot about it and moved onto other hand creams. It wasn't until a work colleague mentioned she used this and it really helped the eczema of her hands, we were both complaining about it, that I remembered I had a tube of it. I made sure I applied it every night before going to bed and my hands are in better condition. My eczema has calmed down a lot and I now only have two itchy patches rather than all over my hands which is amazing. I also love using this as a foot cream which meant I only had to pack one item for two jobs when I was house sitting for the majority of this month.

Balance Me Stellar Face Balm | £18 // This is another product that does amazing things to the eczema on my face. I have a stubborn patch just above my cupids bow that is always irritated and inflamed so I try to apply a good layer of this each night, sometimes reapplying before bed, and it really helps to soothe my skin. I also had incredibly chapped lips thanks to my most recent eczema flare up, they were so sore and splitting every time I talked or ate but after only a couple of days using this and my skin was back to normal.

REN Tonic Moisture Mist | £22 // I am so happy to have another bottle of this in my routine! I've waited over a year for it to come back in stock and I finally found a bottle in a set in the Space NK sale for only £15. This helps to add even more moisture into my skin and it just feels nice and refreshing to use. It has a lovely rose scent and contains hyaluronic acid, one of my favourite skin care ingredients, to hydrate the skin.

The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Bath Jelly | £7 // I'm a huge bath lover and can easily sit there for an hour with a good book. This is such a unique product and isn't like anything I've tried before. When I ordered it I thought it would be a bit like the Honeymania bath soak which is similar to a normal bubble bath but it's not. It feels and looks like a jelly which sort of melts when you add it to running water. It then turns into your more traditional bubble bath which a crazy amount of bubbles. The little wooden spoon is useful although it's just as easy to use your hands to get a bit of product out. It also makes a really nice shower gel and reminds me of the Lush shower jellies. I've already ordered a back up from TBS sale for only £2 which is a complete bargain. The cranberry scent is also really unusual and I love it.

Lush Christmas Hedgehog Bubble Bar // The scent of this bubble bar is lavender, rose, ylang ylang and orange. This is one of the most moisturising bubbles bars I've tried from Lush so far. As I was breaking it up to use it was almost melting in my hands due to the shea and cocoa butter. While it's normal for the bath bombs to leave my skin feeling silky and moisturised, it doesn't really happen with the bubble bars so it was a nice surprise. If only I had thought on and bought a couple more but I'm still hopeful it'll come back this Christmas.

Project Sample Use Up 027

project sample use up rottenotter rotten otter blog 14
Roques Oneil Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts // I got this mini tube of bath salts in a Therapie gift set and took them away with me as well. I only used about half so I ended up just adding the rest to the full size tub I already have. They are expensive but perfect to use on a pamper night.

Crabtree & Evelyn Roswater Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy // This was an okay hand cream but nothing special. I was hoping and expecting a fresh rose scent but instead it’s a bit old lady-ish.

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion // I really liked the smell of this, it reminded me of another product that I can't for the life of me remember which one, but the lotion itself was okay and nothing special.

NUDE ProGenius Treatment Oil //  I was expecting great things from this facial oil and like the cleansing oil, I was left a little bit disappointed. It might just have been because it has been raved about so much but I just found this oil to be okay, nothing spectacular. I found it sunk in best when mixed with a moisturiser than applying it alone. I’m glad I was able to try this mini bottle first before buying the full size and I have another mini bottle I got recently in a beauty box.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Advanced Anti-Aging Serum // Despite the incredibly high price, around about £150, I was only able to use this serum once because of the smell. It is horrible, I’m not even sure what it reminds me of, but I had to go and wash my face again as I couldn’t stand the smell. Needless to say I will not be buying the full size of this.

REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream // I've actually finished up the full sized version of this before they changed the name. From using this sample though I think they may have changed the formula as well as I don't remember it having quite a thick texture and it took a while to sink into the skin. Despite the name, this didn't really help with my irritated skin like other moisturisers have so I wouldn't buy it again. This was a good size sample though but I can't for the life of me remember where I got it from.

Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream // I really didn’t want to like this incredibly expensive moisturiser but I did. I’ve had a large tube of this sitting in my sample drawer for about six months now and I’ve been putting off using it as it costs about £95 for the full size. That tube still has the little silver tab on it to keep it fresh so I thought I’d try this mini one first as it was already open. I got three uses out of this mini tube which I thought was pretty good considering how small it is. It’s not often I find face moisturisers that I fall in love with immediately but I really did like this one.  It sunk in really nicely and worked well with the serum I applied first and it made my skin feel extremely soft in the morning and really helped with dry patches. I will definitely be opening the other tube I have but I still can’t get my head around spending that much on a moisturiser.

I always feel like I don't really need to add any text to My Little Box posts as the photos really do all the talking. This months theme is energy which is fitting seeing as it's January, the start of the new year and getting everyone motivated as well as positive thinking.

Inside this months box is an illustration, magazine, a decent sized gym bag, a calender, a red nail polish, facial mist and a moisturiser. My favourite out of the box is the calender and I'm having a hard time deciding where about in my room I want to put it. The design and layout is pretty simple but it's the illustrations that I love a long with a few extras like a sudoku puzzle and a notes section at the end.

My little box is £11 per month plus postage and packaging. It's definitely my favourite monthly subscription service as the mix of lifestyle and beauty is a nice change and just what I wanted.

Beauty Box // Glossybox January 2015*

beauty box glossybox january 2015 rottenotter rotten otter blog 2 beauty box glossybox january 2015 rottenotter rotten otter blog 1
Kueshi Natural & Pleasant Cosmetics Revitalizing Face Toner | £8.36 // This looks like a pretty nice toner, the ingredients list is quite small with words that I can actually read. The packaging isn't the best as the bottle was leaking slightly when I was taking the photo so I guess one not to travel with. For me though this is a product I wont be trying purely for the fact that it contains perfume. This is one ingredient I know irritates my skin so this year I'm trying to stay away from it when it comes to skin care.
MeMeMe Eye Line Pencil in Clay | £4 // I already have quite a few brown eye liners but I'll happily test this out and see how it wears and lasts.
Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow | £10 // This is a gel highlighter that you can apply to your cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bone or mix a bit in with your foundation for an all over glow. It's a nice champagne colour but I think this will go into my giving away box.
Nicka K New York Colorluxe Powder Blush | £6.60 // I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the packaging of this blush although the colour does look nice. It's a loose powder with a sponge applicator built into the packaging so you sort of stamp it onto your cheeks and then blend with another brush. I find these types of products a bit of a faff to use and more often than not I apply too much product.
Naked Lips Organic Lip Balm in Superfruits | £3.90 // I love the fruity scent of this lip balm and the tube means it will be perfect to keep in my bag.
Unfortunately this months box was a disappointment despite all the products being full size. I'm sure there are others who loved every single product in the box but three out of the five just aren't any use to me. After probably three or so years of getting various beauty boxes each month, I think the excitement has worn away and the contents are never as good as I hope they will be. Sure there are some months that I love what's inside the box but it seems the number of bad boxes outweighs this.

Over the past couple of months I’ve come to the realisation that I really do not need a million and one beauty products. There is no need to have six body moisturisers or cleansers open at the same time nor do I need a whole filing cabinet full of nail polish when I’ve pretty much spent the past year nail polish free. 2015 is the year I’d like to reduce my stash to only the essentials and I will only have one product open per category at a time. Sure, I’ll probably have back up products for when I’m nearing the end of a product but there is no need to have four.

This is where the beauty bag comes into it. It’s a sort of shopping the stash type thing but also making sure I rotate the products I’m using so nothing is left sitting there for a year untouched. I’m terrible at using the same products over and over again and getting stuck in a rub especially when it comes to make-up. At the start of each month I’m going to gather a selection of products that I’d like to get more use out of and share them with you. I’m hoping by doing this I’ll also be able to separate the good from the bad and minimise everything.

This months is a bit different to most as for the majority of January I’ve pretty much been living out of suite case as I’ve been house sitting for a family friend and looking after their cat. I obviously couldn’t take everything with me so I added things I thought I’d need on a daily basis which isn’t a lot. For work I only tend to use mascara and then I just added some eye products for the weekend. As usual there is always something I forget when I pack and this time it was lip products. Luckily I had this tiny tube of lipgloss from Jour in my work handbag which I actually really like as well as a lip balm that I packed as part of my skin care routine. Other than that though it’s all pretty minimal.

Sale shopping & Christmas

what i got for christmas sale shopping 2014 rottenotter rotten otter blog
I hate sale shopping. I always have and I always probably will. I just haven’t got the patience to be scouring through all the racks only to find things that I like that aren’t in my size. If I ever go sale shopping, I’ll always find a million and one things full price and nothing actually in the sales. What I like is online beauty sale shopping, specifically the Space NK sale. Now it was nowhere near as good as last year but it was still pretty good and I got a few bargains.

At the top of my list to buy if it went into the sale was the Aromatherapy Associates Ultimate Bath Jewels set. This was originally £50 and as I hoped it would it was added to the sale and went down to only £25. I quickly added it to my basket along with a few other things before checking out to avoid disappointment if it sold out quickly. Luckily though it arrived a couple of days later and I’ve been enjoying them ever since. My favourites are support breathe lavender and peppermint as well as support breathe equilibrium. I have trouble breathing sometimes thanks to allergies and these two really help me to relax and get a better nights sleep. You wouldn’t think it, but you only need a couple of drops per bath and although these bottles look tiny, they last a long time. I’m only just now coming to the end of the giftset I bought last year in the sales.

I was running low on toner so when I saw the REN Tonic Moisture Mist in a set along with an eye cream and serum I couldn’t help adding them to my basket. I first tried this back in 2013 and quickly finished the bottle. It’s one of my favourite hydrating toners but when I went to repurchase it was always either sold out or unavailable. It’s taken more than a year for me to finally buy it again and I’ve fallen back in love with it. I haven’t tried the other two products yet but I’m sure I’ll report back with a review. Not wanting to pay £5 in postage I added in a giant tub of Sai Sei Mineral Seaweed Bath Crystals to my order which bumped the total up to free delivery.

My final purchase wasn’t in the sale but I couldn’t help treating myself to it as I loved the colours. I’m a sucker for throws and as soon as I saw it I knew this one from TKMaxx would look perfect at the bottom of my bed on top of my grey knitted throw from H&M. It also looks great on the back of my Ikea grey reading chair if I fancy a mix up.

This past Christmas the present at the top of my list was a Clarisonic as ever since I started blogging and these have become more popular it’s been on my wish list. I’ve haven’t wanted to part with my money though as £125 is a lot of money to take a risk on a product that might not even work. Add in all the horror stories I’ve read of how this has broken people out in a really bad way after they started using it also put me off a bit. What better time though to add it to a Christmas List?

After seeing it on offer on Feel Unique I then had to decide what colour I wanted. I knew I didn’t want white as I could see it discolouring over time and I thought I’d get bored of light pink or a bright colour so I went with one of my favourite colours, grey and I couldn’t be happier with it. Before my parents ordered it I was emailed a gift voucher from Feel Unique as an apology for a previous order being delayed. The amount was for £35 which I’m still thinking was an error, I got another one for a different order that was only worth £7, but we were able to use it as well as the £25 off offer. Therefore my Clarisonic was only about £70 which I feel a lot better about. As a gift to myself I ordered the delicate brush head as I thought this would be the best type for my sensitive skin. I’ve only been using it once or twice a week so far so I give my skin a chance to get used to it. I’m never going to use it on a daily basis as I know that’ll be too much for my skin instead I’m using it as a treatment to help with dry patches and in the long run to even out the texture of my skin.

Did you grab any bargains in the sale? Buy anything from the Space NK sale?

Thierry Mugler Alien Extraordinaire

thierry mugler alien extraordinaire perfume rottenotter rotten otter blog
Over the past year or so I have gotten into the habit of only using one perfume at a time, with the odd exception for special occasions, until it is empty and then I buy a new one. Or as I'm trying to do now, continuously finish all of my perfumes until I don't have any left and then I'm allowing myself to buy a new bottle. So after finishing Taylor Swift Made Of Starlight I moved onto Alien Extraordinaire by Thierry Mugler.

I like the original Alien perfume but personally I think this latest version is a million times better. Alien is one of those perfumes that you know what it is as soon as you smell it on someone else. While I don't mind this and don't see it as such a bad thing, having someone ask "ooh what perfume are you wearing? It smells gorgeous" always makes me feel good. This is one of those perfumes that gets people asking this question.

Not only do I love and prefer the bottle design, this scent just makes me feel happy. I can forget I'm wearing perfume and then later on in the day I'll just get a whiff of it and I find it such a comforting scent. It still has the deep spicy notes but with a freshness that Alien doesn't have. The notes are neroli, bergamot, cashmeran wood, tiare flower, amber and heliotrope. I had no idea what heliotrope was but it is a purple flower! Surprisingly this fragrance doesn't contain sandalwood which is one the scents I'm most drawn to but I just can't get enough of this scent. I'm already half way through the 90ml bottle. To me, although I'd happily wear it all year round, it is more of a autumn and winter scent.

The scent lasts an incredibly long time both on the skin and on fabric. I can still smell it on clothes days after I've worn them and it's only an eau de toilette. It also comes in a refillable bottle so once it's empty you can take it to a store or buy a refill online to top it up which works out cheaper than buying a brand new bottle.

If you were or weren't a fan of Alien, go to a store and give this a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

It took me a while to actually get round to trying this nail polish and now I've worn it, I can't beleive I hadn't sooner! In the bottle this polish just looks like your standard gold glitter nail polish but once on the nails, especially over a black polish, you can see that it's packed full of holographic glitter as well. Although this is the smallest size glitter in the bottle, when the light hits it you can see all the different colours. I really like that there are different sized glitters as well as it makes it just a bit more interesting.

Stila Lip Glaze in Glitter | £15 // I'm not a huge fan of lipglosses so I think I'll pass this onto someone else. It's a nice pink colour though with a bit of shimmer.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo | £21 // This is my all time favourite shampoo and I've already been through countless bottles. I've even gone out and bought the one litre sized bottle as it worked out cheaper than constantly buying the smaller size. If you suffer from an itchy scalp and/or eczema then you really need to try this. This has, without a doubt, changed how my scalp feels and although I still get eczema flare ups, they're no where near as bad as they used to or as often. Plus I love the apple scent! This mini tube will come in handy for when I next go on holiday or for a long weekend away.

Agave Healing Oil Treatment | £16 // I got a sample of this in my September Birchbox so it's a repeat product for me which is a bit disappointing. A different product from the brand could have been included instead. I'll use it and I do like it but I guess the whole point of beauty boxes is to try new things.

HealGel Face | £48 // I have the full size of the intensive version which I love and try to use on a daily basis to reduce scaring. As I've suffered with eczema for pretty much my whole life and have a habit of scratching said eczema, I have quite a few scared areas on my body such as my hands and inner elbow and it's really made a difference. Although I've read both good and bad reviews of this, I'm intrigued to try it.

Activbod Cooling Finish Lotion | £12 // This is meant to be a post-workout body lotion to help cool and soothe skin. It has a nice lemon scent but I didn't notice much of a cooling feeling.

Embrace Matcha Green Tea | £24.99 // I've always wanted to try the Teapigs matcha tea but haven't wanted to buy any in case I didn't like the taste and then I've wasted my money. This little sachet will allow me to try it but I'm guessing I probably won't like it which will hopefully save me some money!

Birchbox Pilates Band | £7.99 // This is a nice extra although I'm not sure how much use it'll get. I'll have to have a search on Youtube for some videos on how to use it.

Mini Reviews 030 // balance Me // Aesop // Weleda // Laura Mercier

mini reviews balance me aesop weleda laura mercier rottenotter rotten otter blog
balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream | £14.50 // Balance Me aren’t joking by calling this super moisturising as it’s one of the thickest hand creams I’ve tried. It’s almost more of a balm than a cream. It’s perfect for the winter when the eczema on my hands is acting up. I wouldn’t recommend this unless you have very dry hands though as it can feel very greasy. I also only use this at night so I’m able to do nothing and just let it soak in. That way even if my hands are feeling a little bit greasy, it doesn’t really matter. In the morning I always wake up with smooth soft skin. It's also a great one if you wear nail polish a lot or after removing gel nail polish and your cuticles are looking a bit dry.

Aesop Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Wash | £7 // I was a little bit disappointed in how dry this makes my hands feel as it’s not cheap. It smells really nice as you’d expect from Aesop but I always feel like I need to apply a hand cream straight after which I don’t feel the need to with other hand gels. I really like the bottle design and it’s a nice size for my bag but I think I’d just buy a large bottle from a different brand and decant it in the future. I'm glad I tried it but if you're thinking about buying it, skip it and try the one from Soap & Glory.

Weleda Calendula Body Cream | £7.95 // I bought this after falling in love with the face version. This is meant to be used on babies but since I have sensitive eczema prone skin I though it would be perfect for me. It's also a pretty good price for a moisturiser with great ingredients. Weleda is a brand that's starting to become better known and I'm really happy about this. It has the same subtle scent as the face cream does which I really like as it's not going to interfere with a perfume. It has quite a thick consistency that reminds me a bit of the Weleda Skin Food if you've tried that, just not quite as thick and balm like. I tend to only use this cream at night as it does leave your skin feeling slightly tacky until it sinks in. It's also one I would only use in the winter as it's a bit too heavy feeling for the summer. Calendula is an ingredient that my skin loves and I think it really helps my eczema so perhaps one to try if you have similar skin to mine.

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Body Creme | £44.50 // I've been pretty disappointed with Laura Mercier body moisturisers and considering the price, I thought they'd be a lot better. I find they take a while to sink into the skin and not because they have a thicker consistency, in fact they feel quite light, it's that they leave a greasy feeling to the skin. I also wasn't a huge fan of this scent as I found it a bit too sickly sweet. If it had been a shower gel then I think the scent would have been ok but as the scent lingers for a while after you apply it gets to be a bit too much. Save your money and try something else from Laura Mercier such as the honey bath.

Pirouette My Whistle was part of the New York City ballet collection way back in 2012. I wasn't really a fan of the other polishes in this collection, I didn't think they really worked, but this glitter stood out to me. I managed to get this at a bargain price from Fragrance Direct but since then they've upped the price to £3.99 which is still good but not as good as the £2 I bough it for.

This glitter nail polish reminds me of snow fall and I decided to wear it when it started snowing boxing day although I've only now just got round to sharing it. Seriously, as much as I love the winter, it's my favourite season, I always forget throughout the rest of the year just how poor the light is to take photos for my blog. Taking photos of nail polish, especially glitters, are probably the worst to take as well!
