2013 Favourites // Skin Care

For this years favourite beauty products I've tried to pick out products I've tried, bought and fell in love with this year. I'm still loving every single product that I had in last years favourites but haven't included any this year so I'm duplicating things.

2013 was the year of skin care for me and this was the hardest category to narrow down. I tried a lot of new products this year and still have a huge amount on my wish list. It was also the year I branched out on brands instead of sticking to one. Towards the end of the year the eczema on my face flared up again so a lot of my favourite products are incredibly hydrating and non irritating.

Origins No Puffery Eye Mask // Before this, I'd never tried a mask specifically for eyes. This one is perfect to use when my hey fever is bad and my eyes feel incredibly puffy. Just apply a small amount under your eyes and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Once you wash the mask away you can always see a difference in  how your eyes look and feel.

By Terry Baume De Rose // I finally took the plunge and ordered the By Terry lip balm in 2013 and it is as good as everyone says it is. It's thick and moisturising and gives a hint of colour to the lips. It's expensive but definitely one of the best lip balms I've tried.

Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins // This was my most used night cream this year and again, it's just as good as everyone says it is. It smells of oranges and is incredibly moisturising. I like to mix this moisturiser with a face oil for even more hydration.

balance Me Stellar Face Balm // This is probably one of my top skin care picks from 2013. I first bought the small sample sized tub to test it out and have since ordered the full size. I use this when I have visible flaky dry patches and eczema on my face and the balm instantly soothes the skin and hydrates it. I carry the little tub in my bag so I always have it with me.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm // I put off trying this cleansing balm for such a long time but I ordered the small tub from Latest In Beauty and instantly fell in love with it. It smells amazing and feels really luxurious when you use it. It removes make-up and cleanses the skin really well but it doesn't dry my skin out. Instead it's left feeling soft and hydrated.

Aveda Intensive Hydrating Masque // I never would have thought to try this face mask if it wasn't for Jenny mentioning it quite a lot on her blog. This quickly became my favourite face mask of all time and despite how often I've used it, it looks like I've hardly touched it in the tube. I have extremely dry skin so it feels like this mask for made for me. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and really helps to reduce and get rid of dry patches. This would be a good mask to take on a plane as it's clear and very hydrating, as the name suggests.

Trilogy Sensitive Skin Calming Fluid // My eczema seems to have been the bain of my life this year but this calming fluid from Trilogy has really helped to soothe my skin and reduce redness. I generally use this instead of a moisturiser in the mornings as it's moisturising enough.

Nude ProGenius Treatment Oil // This face oil has been another game changer in how I treat my eczema. I mix this with a moisturiser, usually Night A Mins, and it sinks in immediately. There was also a couple of weeks this year when I solely used this on my face each night my skin was that dry. Somehow I'm still working my way through this tiny bottle and it's no where near empty yet.

balance Me Skin Bright Hydrating Mist // This is my alternative to the Ren Tonic Moisture Mist which they stopped selling for a few months last year and it works just as well. This toner really helps to moisturiser my dry skin as it contains hyaluronic acid. The only thing that's stopping me from repurchasing this one is that it contains Alcohol which the Ren version doesn't. They are now selling the Ren again so if I had a bottle I probably would have included it instead.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 // Another eczema product I can't live without. I get especially bad eczema on the skin between my nose and mouth and this is the only cream I've found which isn't a prescription to work.

Weleda Baby Calendula Face Cream // Although meant to be used on babies this cream is extremely gentle so it's the one I reach for when my eczema is bad. It's also pretty cheap but moisturises the skin really well.

Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream // I've never been a fan of eye creams as I have quite a sensitive eye area and tend to get milia if I use an eye cream that's too thick. Saying that though I have fallen in love with this Caudalie version after using a tiny 1ml tube of it and finishing every last drop. It's hydrating but quite thin and it doesn't irritate my eczema. It's expensive but I managed to grab it at a bargain price from Feel Unique.
