2013 Favourites // Hair Care

For this years favourite beauty products I've tried to pick out products I've tried, bought and fell in love with this year. I'm still loving every single product that I had in last years favourites but haven't included any this year so I'm duplicating things.
I don't do a lot to my hair and I don't try out many products. I wash it and apply some hair oil then leave it to dry naturally and never brush it. It's rare for me to heat style it unless I'm going out at night. My 2013 hair favourites was the easiest to pick out. Unlike the other categories where I had to narrow it down, I instantly new which products I wanted to include.

KMS Curl Up Wave Foam Mousse // This is a new product for me and I only discovered it in December. I got this in the October Birchbox but put it in my hair care box without even trying it once as I thought it wouldn't be something I'd like. While tidying up at the start of December I came across it and decided to try it out and I instantly fell in love with it. Once my hair is towel dried I apply about a 20p sized about all over my hair and scrunch the ends a bit to help my hair go into it's natural curl. Once my hair is dry it looks a lot less frizzy and my curls/waves are always a lot more defined and neater compared to when I don't use this. Once I use up this small bottle I'll be buying the full size!

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo // I'm nearly at the end of my second bottle of this shampoo and have just bought my third. I don't think I'll ever stop using this shampoo as just seems to agree with my sensitive eczema prone scalp. In the past, before I discovered this, my scalp would become extremely irritated and itchy every time I washed my hair but since using this I haven't had an itchy scalp. I also love the apple scent which reminds me of shampoos I used when I was little.

Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Intense Rescue Melting Balm // I've tried a lot of hair masks this year, both good and bad, but this one tops them all. This is a pre-shampoo mask and turns into an oil once you apply it to your hair. I leave this on for as long as I can, usually around 20 minutes and then shampoo and condition as usual. When it comes to conditioner though I always find I need to use less as my hair is already hydrated from the mask. I love the scent of this and it makes my hair feel incredibly soft and less frizzy.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Toner // This scalp toner has also made a massive difference to my scalp. Once I've washed and towel dried my hair I apply this to my scalp, mainly to the areas that my eczema usually flares up like my hair line and parting, and massage it in. It feels like water and it doesn't leave your hair feeling or looking greasy. I've applied this to dry hair and once it's dried you can't tell you put anything on your hair. I've just bought my third bottle as I'm nearly out of this one which proves how much I love it.

  1. I'm pretty tempted to try the PK Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo as your eczema sounds very similar to mine and every single time I read another one of your posts raving about it, I become even more tempted! x

  2. I've never heard of any of these brands before (I know, I'm a blogging newbie) But that hair mask sounds lovely! :) May have to investigate into that a little bit more! :)

  4. wow, so good that you like and stay faithful to your '12 faves. I can understand when you have itchy scalp (me too) that you cannot experiment much with products...some naturals works quite well on me. I love blowdrying these days so a good prep (Phyto, a natural for my itchy-prone scalp) is key

  5. Great post, I woke up last night with my head itching like mad, it gets so itchy and dry but my roots get so oily, I've put the two Philip Kingsley products to put on my list when it's payday. I'm desperate for something to clear it up.
