Muddy Buddies

If you watch the Shaytards on a regular basis you would have seen them talk about and eat Muddy Buddies a few weeks ago. I hadn't heard about them before so after a quick google search to find the recipe I made them over the Easter weekend. They remind me of chocolate nibbles, one of my favourite sweets of all time, but crunchy with peanut butter.
They're SO easy to make and would be perfect for those with kids. I followed this recipe with a few changes since I'm from the UK. I also only made a third of the mixture which still made a lot. If the recipe wasn't so hard to divide I would have probably made an even smaller amount as it was only my dad and I eating them. My alterations will be in bold.

9 cups Corn Chex® // chocolate shreddies
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips // Asda milk chocolate bar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine // unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (icing sugar)

  • 1Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
  • 2In a microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into large resealable food-storage plastic bag.
  • 3Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
