Liz Earle Try Me Kit Giveaway

As Liz Earle is my favourite skin care brand and I'm coming up to my 2nd blog birthday I thought I'd have a little giveaway. I use the cleanse and polish on a daily basis and love any of the facial moisturisers. The skin tonic smells amazing too!

I've created this little try me kit from back ups I haven't used yet from when I bought a few of Liz Earle's kits. This is a great way of trying Liz Earle out before buying.

You'll be getting a muslin cloth, cleanse & polish, skin tonic, face moisturiser and a nice little bag.

Only a few little rules: open to UK only sorry. You must be an active blogger. Giveaway will close a week today. If your email isn't on your blog please leave it in your comment. Simply write a comment to enter. Please bare in mind that the face moisturiser is for dry/sensitive.

July Favourites

Quite a few favourites this month! Since finishing P20P I've bought quite a few things I've wanted to try for ages which are making an appearance in this months favourites as well as some old favourites.

Soap & Glory Daily Smooth Body Butter - I bought this body butter in a trio a month or two ago and have only got round to using it for the first time this month. It's really helped with my dry skin which has flared up this month, especially my feet. It also has the same scent as the body spray, Mist You Madly, which I also have.
Lush Helping Hands - Love this hand cream for throwing in my bag. It's only a small bottle so doesn't take up too much room. It's also an amazing moisturiser and doesn't leave your hands feeling greasy.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - This is a rediscovery. I stopped using if for a month or two, for no reason really. I started using it again at the start of the month after my Mac make-up remover ran out and fell in love with it again. It's the best cleanser I've used and also takes off eye make-up perfectly.
Paco Rabanne Lady Million Perfume - One of my favourite perfumes and it's nearly ran out! This featured in my June favourites as well.
Thierry Mugler Angel Body Cream - I got a couple of generous sized samples of the Angel perfume body cream from John Lewis last month. They were 10ml each and I got a couple of them so it's the perfect way to try out the scent before buying it. Angel is now on my list of to buys.

Mac Bare Study Paint Pot - This is a new addition to my make-up collection and has quickly become an all time favourite. I don't need to put a primer underneath, it doesn't crease or fade away on it's own. The colour is perfect on it's own or underneath another shadow.
Sleek Storm Palette - Another rediscovery, I completely forgot about this sleek palette but have used it nearly every day this month. Especially the first three colours.
L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara - This is the only mascara I've used this month and I love it. Makes my lashes look fuller, more volume while still looking quite natural. It is easily built up though and doesn't clump too much.

Mac Petting Pink Tinted Lip Conditioner - This has been in my bag all month as my lip balm of choice. This also featured in last months favourites post.
Mac Creme Cup Lipstick - The perfect every day lip stick and featured in last months favourites too.
Mac Shy Girl Lipstick - This is a new lipstick for me but one I've used a lot this month. A gorgeous peachy-coral-nude.
17 Beehive Lipstick - Apologies for the out of focus-ness of it, probably best though as it doesn't look too pretty. Whenever I use it, it looks like it's going to snap off due to the creamy formula. A gorgeous everyday colour that is really moisturising.

OPI Teenage Dream - NOTD

This was an absolute nightmare to take off! Even though it looked nice I'm never using it on it's own again without a nail polish underneath.

Living Nature Lip Pencil In Morning Sun

I was a bit disappointed when this Living Nature lip pencil arrived in the post. On the website the pencil looks a nice bright orange but in reality it's a brick colour, basically an orange brown.

I can still make it work buy wearing it on it's own but it needs a lip balm over the top as it's very matte making any dry patches obvious. This particular colour doesn't  match any lipsticks I own so I can't really comment on using it as a lip liner.

The consistency is nice, it's easy to apply is very pigmented. If you were looking for this particular colour then I'd say £9.99 was a good price. If not, then i'd say give it a miss. It's not a pencil that could be used for the majority of your lipsticks. I just wish the swatches were better or that you could see the products in person first.

E.L.F Studio Line

Here's what I bought from the Studio line, I find this one to be quite hit or miss with the products. Some are great and others not so much.

Pebble eye shadow is the perfect all over lid colour but it definitely needs a primer underneath. It's going to work great as an eye liner too for a more natural look. I love the packaging for this too although the mini mirror is a bit useless.

The lip conditioner is such a gorgeous colour and is surprisingly pigmented, definitely one of my favourites from this order. I think the packaging could have been designed better, it's too bulky. It also reminds me of the Mac lip conditioner in Petting Pink which I've recently bought.

These eye liner and shadow sticks are one of my favourite products from E.L.F, I'd really recommend them! I already have the neutral one so went with these two, midnight blue and plum purple as they're quite different to the other liners I have. They're really creamy and extremely pigmented. £3.50 is a bargain for these! I'm hoping to have them all at some point.

I'm not so keen on the primer and liner sealer. The primer is too orange for my skin tone and hard to blend out. The brush for the seal just doesn't work. Wouldn't recommend.

Miami lip gloss is a really nice colour and I surprisingly like the gold sparkle it has. I also really like the minty scent but it's a bit too sticky for me to use on an every day basis, I wouldn't buy any other shades.

I bought the 2 in 1 gloss as a bit of fun, I've never tried a product like this before. Once again it's very sticky but the colour is quite unusual. It reminds me a bit of Nars' Nana lip gloss.

1 pebble eye shadow with primer and without, 2 mellow melon lip conditioner, 3 shadow stick and liner in blue midnight, 4 primer, 5 Miami minty lipgloss, 6 shadow stick and liner in purple plum, 7 2 in 1 gloss in plumtastic separate and mixed

Accessorize Baked Eye Shadow Duo Maia & Thalia

Maia Swatched

Thalia Swatched
You can see swatches of my other baked eye shadow duo from Accessorize here. As I loved and used that one so much I decided to buy two more, I do want them all but went for these two this time.  Both incredibly wearable with the green being a bit different to other shadows I own.

These are so pigmented and all swatched without primer, can only imagine how good they'd be with. I also love that you can get 3 or 4 colours out of just one duo. They blend well and don't budge all day with a primer. £4 is really a bargain and even better if you can get them while the 3 for 2 offer is running.

I can't find these on the Accessorize website or on superdrugs so I'm not sure if they're carrying on selling them or not? Anyone know?
Have you tried any of these eye shadows?

Week In Photos 044

001 Tuesday was a busy day starting with the opening of Museum of Liverpool. As I said in my last Week In Photos post I had a ticket to the breakfast morning before it was open to the public. It was a good morning but the first floor isn't open yet which seemed a bit silly to open the whole building before it wasn't really finished. Guess that happens a lot. Inside it was a lot smaller than expected. I did like the Guggenheim-esque stair case though!

002 My mum, along with some Embroiders Guilders, have a piece of work up. Hers is in the middle column and forth down. They're all world war postcards based on everyone's family stories.

003 After the museum opening me and mum went to see the Magritte exhibition in the Tate. Magritte is a favourite of mine and used his work as inspiration for one of my A Level projects on dreams. It's a great exhibition so if you're in Liverpool definitely go and have a look. It is pricey to get in if you don't have a Tate card but worth it in my opinion.

004 After the Tate we went to see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows part 2. I really enjoyed it and it was much better than part 1. In the evening we then went to see Horrible Bosses as I'd got 3 free tickets. It was a great laugh, similar to the Hangover, obviously not as good, but still a great film. I'm thinking they'll probably make a second one.

005 Thursday was my brothers graduation! This was his third one!(luckily only the second I'd been to) And has officially become a Dr by completing his PHD. After the ceremony we all went to host for an amazing meal with surprise cupcakes the following day.

Blog I love: Afeitar, A new blog find written by a fellow Liverpudlian. From reading her blog I'm not taking a trip to Manchester next weekend and am going to Walrus for some food.

Living Nature Lip Balm

I'm a bit lip balm obsessed, I have way too many but decided to add another one to my collection with this Living Nature lip balm. This is quite different to the other lip balms I have, the consistency at least. It reminds me of Liz Earle Super Balm but in liquid form. This means it is much thinner than normal, I don't mind this but I know some people wouldn't.

I love the scent of this, it smells of honey and a tiny bit goes a long way. It feels great on the lips, moisturising and protecting.

I tend to use this over the top of drying lipsticks as it's really glossy and makes the lipstick but nicer. £7.99 does seem quite expensive but when you look at how much product you get compared to other brands it's actually quite reasonable.

Models Own Golden Peach - NOTD

For the past month or so I've been on the hunt for the perfect peach/apricot nail polish but I don't think this is it. It's a really nice colour but I think the yellow-orange shimmer is too over powering making it less peach. Application was good but it's not opaque enough for me.

What nail polish are you wearing at the moment?

E.L.F Original Line

I ordered quite a few products the other week when E.L.F were having the 50% off all products. I'm going to be splitting them up into the 3 different posts: original line, mineral and studio. I only ordered a few products from the original £1.50 line, mostly brushes which I might do a separate post on.

The liquid eye shadow in Sulty Satin is really great and is an exact dupe of Alva's liquid eye shadow in pale almond which I've reviewed here. The pigmentation and staying power really surprised me and it's a great base for other shadows. It does need a primer underneath though as it does crease throughout the day if worn alone. It's a perfect every colour. I just wish we could buy E.L.F from an actual shop as I'd like to see what the other colours look like before buying.

top: Strawberry, bottom: Raspberry.
I'm really impressed with the luscious liquid lipsticks, they smell minty and are really pigmented. I've wanted to try these since Gemma mentioned them. Really glad I chose these two colours as they're great everyday colours.

1: Liquid eye shadow, 2: Raspberry liquid lipstick, 3: Strawberry liquid lipstick.

What's In My Cupboards 002

This was quite a popular post last time and I enjoyed writing it so I'm doing one again! Can't believe that was six months ago! It's quite bad that I still have some of the same products as last time! From P20P this is is all my bath/shower products and I'm so happy it finally all fits onto these two shelves. With the exception of my Bed Head shampoo and conditioner which are too tall to fit anywhere.

L-R: Lush shower jellies x4, Lush soaps x4, More Lush soaps x3, Exfoliating glove, Pumice thing, Haus Of Gloi Lavender Sugar soap, Lush It's Raining Men shower gel, Lush Dirty shower Gel, Lush Angels On Bare Skin cleanser, Liz Earle Cleans & Polish, Lush Rub Rub Rub body scrub, The Body Shop Body Brush, Lush Soap and body butter, Boots Botanics Cleanser, Bluebeards Shaving Cream, Lush Rub Rub Rub body scrub.

A'Kin PureMan shower gel, Bluebeards Shaving Brush, Empty bath salt jar, Soap & Glory Feel The Knead, Razor, Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish x3, Cetaphil Cleanser, Boots Shampoo, Sanctuary Bath Oil, Lynx Fever shower gel/exfoiliator, Liz Earle Shampoo and Conditioner, Naked Deep Conditioner, travel bottle of Bed Head shampoo, Andrew Barton Deep Conditioner, travel jar of foot soak, travel jar of Bluebeards Revenge Shaving Cream, Tara Smith shampoo and Conditioner x4, sachet of Andrew Barton Deep Conditioner.

My second shelf has changed the most which I'm quite glad about but I really need to work on using the Tara Smith products and Liz Earle. I don't need 4 of each!

Zebra Stripes - NOTD

Apologies if you're getting sick of my NOTD posts but I'm really enjoying painting my nails at the moment and trying out different things. I've also just bought some cheapy brushes and dotting tools from Ebay so expect a lot more soon! I'm going to try to do some Cath Kidston flowers at some point as I've just ordered a white nail polish,

In the mean time Utopia by Models Own is the closest I have to a white. It's a lovely pale lilac and a dream to apply. Once again I used the Wah Nails pen to draw the stripes and used OPI's Rapidry top coat.

What have you got on your nails?

Week In Photos 043

001 Came home from work on Monday to find half my water bottle had leaked and my little camera was sitting at the bottom of it! Along with my password which now needs replacing! Had the camera sitting in rice for the rest of the week. It is working but doesn't sound too good! Think I'll just have to see how it goes, really don't want to be buying a new one as I only got this one about 2 months ago.

002 Finally got my make-up storage how I wanted it. For the time being anyway! If I had the money I'd have all Muji storage but I don't at the moment. I bought two pieces though while I was in London for my lipsticks and other lip products which I really like. I've found that I'm using them more rather than just sticking with the same colour each day.

003 Been doing a lot of nail art and painting my nails this week which I haven't done for a long time. You can see my posts here, here and here.

004 I'm off to Brouhaha tonight, hopefully you'll see some photos of it next week!

Mac Pro Eye Make-up Remover

I bought this on a bit of a whim, I was making a Mac order and wanted to reach £50 for the free delivery but not go over by too much. At the moment Mac are selling quite a few products as mini's so a perfect time to try it out.

Now I still love my Liz Earle Eye bright and it is still my favourite, but I'm always looking out for new eye make-up removers to try.

This is a close favourite though! It has no smell, is gentle on the eyes with no stinging and you don't need to rub your eyes to get rid of all the make-up. I pour a bit onto a cotton pad and hold it against my eye for about 30 seconds or so and gently wipe away and it all comes off.

Now this is where it comes only second favourite. The price. It's £13.00 for 100ml which is good and I'd be happy to pay this but I'm going through it so quickly! I'm definitely going to buy the normal sized bottle but it isn't going to become my everyday eye make-up remover.

What eye make-up remover are using at the moment?

Products I Have Finished 001

Alterna Caviar Anti-aging hair spray: Not one I'm going to be repurchasing for a long time as it's more than I want to pay for a hair product. At the moment anyway. You can read more about it here.

Soap & Glory Clean, Girls Body Wash: Love the smell of this, it's Mist You Madly which I have in a body spray. I've been using this as bubble bath though as it can irritate my eczema when used as a shower gel. Not one I'll repurchase because of this.

Aussie 3MM: I've finished so many bottles of this I've lost count. One of my favourite deep conditioners and I'll always have one in the house.

Mark Hill Heat Protection Spray:I have the little travel size and I wouldn't buy it in the full size. It's a so-so product, not impressive but nothing really bad to say about it. The scent reminds me of when I was 16/17, that's how long I've had it!

Quickies Nail Polish Remover Pads:You can read my full review here. Definitely going to buy some more when I next go away.

What's the last product you've finished?

Tiger Stripes - NOTD

My first time giving Zebra nails a go, I'm thinking leopard print next. I used the Models Own/Wah Nails pen which I've kind of neglected since I bought it. Don't really like the nib but the brush is great. Defintely going to buy some brushes so I can use all my other nail polishes for nail art.I really need to buy a white nail polish so I can do real zebra stripes.

I'm really loving this H&M polish that I bought the other day. Amazingly it only took one smooth coat for it to become opaque! It's "looks great on you" and I currently have it on my toes toe, with the same tiger stripes one my big toe. Not usually one for being matchy matchy but I like it!

Week In Photos 043

001I've been reading and baking a lot this week!I've had two days off and have totally relaxed, this weekend has gone too quickly though!

002 A few months ago I bought the Hummingbirds Recipe book and made red velvet cup cakes which were amazing, I've never tried making them before but will definitely be making them again. The lemon meringue cupcakes weren't so nice! They made the cases go all funny which has never happened before, anyone know why?

003 I've managed to finish 3 books this week: Sophie Kinsella's Mini Shopaholic and two books by Jenny Han, all on my kindle. I also found One Day among the books in the living room, I've only read 20 pages so far but I've only read good things about it.

004 Painted my nails for the first time in ages tonight, gone for Models Own Grace Green which is a favourite.

005 I got my invite for the opening of Museum of Liverpool which should be exciting! I'll either write a separate blog post of include it in my Week In Photos Post. Can't believe I'll nearly have done a whole year of these! And nearly 2 years writing my blog!
