Week in photos 007

001 I’ve been sorting out my wardrobe and have taken Lauren Conrad’s tip to put all the clothes you don’t wear but don’t want to throw away and put in under your bed. In 6 months (or however long you choose) if I haven’t wanted to wear or thought about the clothes then I’ll donate them. Hopefully this will create a good dent in my bulging wardrobe.
002 I’ve been cooking a lot this week, again from my new Quorn cookbook. Some have been amazing, others not so much, but I love trying new meals.
003 My little furry friend has been round a lot this week and has been exploring the house.
004 He doesn’t really like the camera though.
005 Also from reading Lauren’s book I’ve been inspired to try and wear more of my clothes rather than sticking with the same comfy outfits. It’s also been surprisingly warm this week so I haven’t had to think of outfits which will keep me warm.
What have you been up to this week?

Aveeno Oil

This was one of the products I bought with my Birthday vouchers for Boots. I’ve really been into trying Aveeno products lately and this is one that I’ve fallen in love with. I’ve just bought the shower gel from Aveeno and actually prefer this.

As you can see by reading the instructions it can be used two ways and I really like both. As bath oil I don’t measure it out first I just roughly pour in 30ml, swirl it about in the water and jump in. Using it this way gives you a really relaxing and moisturising bath and doesn’t irritate my skin like some bubble baths can do.
When using it as a shower gel you rub the oil into your skin then watch it emulsify when it touches water. Obviously as it it an oil you won’t find it lathers but this personally doesn’t both me.
Have you tired this bath oil?

Week in photos 006

001 My brother left his microwave at ours when he moved down to London and after reading Lilly’s week in photos post I just had to try a 5 minute mug cake …
002 … I wasn’t that impressed and won’t be making another. Do you like them?
003 A lovely surprise package came from Aussie, really cheered me up! I used the hair products on Friday and love them. So who’s going to the Bonfire night party??
004 Got my bottle of moisturiser for the Aveeno skin relief trial.
005 I’ve been reading a lot this week too and am currently reading Lauren Conrad’s Style book which you can see a bit more about here and Charlie St. Cloud in preparation for the movie. I also finished Lauren’s Sweet Little Liars and am waiting for the next book to arrive.
What have you been doing this week?

Alva Naturkosmetik Salva Derm Cream

A bit of background information about this cream taken from the Mypure website:
Alva's fragrance free Salve-Derm has a unique dual action formula to harness the power of micro silver that works hard to inhibit infections and to soothe the skin, quickly relieving inflammation, severe itching and the urge to scratch. Wellmune strengthens and sustains the immune system, boosting skin regeneration whilst helping to mitigate new attacks. Vitamin E protects sensitive skin from free radicals, aloe vera soothes and promotes healing, jojoba oil and shea butter offer effective and natural moisture.
I chose this as one of my products from this months blogging parcel as the eczema on my legs always seems to get worse at this time of year, mainly the backs of my knees. I currently use a steroid cream prescribed by the doctor but obviously this has side effects so I was hoping this would be an alternative.
I haven’t seen much improvement yet but I have only been using it for about two weeks. It definitely hasn’t made my eczema any worse or irritated my skin which is always a major bonus.
I have some eczema pj’s which contain micro silver, I don’t think it really does anything but I still think it’s interesting and weird.
I’m going to use it religiously write a follow up review once I’ve finished the cream as a bit of an update. I’m hoping that it could just take a bit longer for the cream to start working.
At just over £18 it isn’t cheap but for anyone who suffers from eczema knows you will do anything for it go away :)
You can read more about this cream here.

Lauren Conrad's Style Book

This book has made me me want to go shopping, organise my wardrobe, find the perfect pair of jeans despite not being a jeans fan and to only buy clothes I know I will wear. It’s a really good read especially if you’re a Lauren Conrad fan like me.

I’ve just finished reading Sweet Little Liars and am about to order the last book in the series!
Have you ordered the style book? Or read any of the L.A Candy books?

Week in photos 005

001 This week I've been make a lot of meals from my new quorn recipe book. Some haven't been amazing but some have, like the sweet potato and quorn loaf which I made last night.

002 I've been reading a lot this week which I'm so happy about. I go through phases, one month I'll read like two books a week and then the next I won't read anything. This week I've read Light On Snow by Anita Shreve and now I've just started Lauren Conrad's Sweet Little Lies.

003 I've had a lot of things come in the post this week which has been great. I love coming home and opening them all :) I ordered Lauren Conrad's style book on Friday so hopefully it'll come tomorrow or Tuesday.

004 I decided to try and hook my laptop up to my TV and it worked!

005 On Twitter on a huge TV!

006 I've been wanting to go on holiday so much this week! I really want to go to Paris, Finland and New York :(

007 This week I've been crazy busy! My brother moved back in for a few days which meant we had to squish all his stuff from his flat into his old bedroom. Four rooms of stuff into two, it was hard but we managed it! Then he moved down to London for a new job which meant helping to pack what he needed and see him off on the train. I also started a Business and Admin course which meant having to get back into a proper routine. I was meant to go to Leeds this weekend which didn't end up happening, disappointing but at least I got to have a relax and be lazy. Lots of CSI was watched! I think I'm coming down with something now! My chest has been so wheezy and sore, really hope I'm not though.

Hope you had a more relaxed week than me! What did you do?

New favourite perfume …

… Liz Earle’s first perfume.

As always with Liz Earle the packaging is perfect. The perfume is housed in a snug little cardboard box with a cute little pull tab ribbon.
The perfume bottle itself is really simple and goes with the brand image perfectly.

Now down to the scent: high-altitude lavender from France, damask rose from Turkey, Italian bergamot and spicy patchouli from Indonesia = a gorgeous smelling perfume in my opinion. It’s a really light, fresh and natural smelling fragrance which works for all year round. What’s even better is that over 98% is derived from natural ingredients. I think it is only available to buy online at the moment but you can have a smell at counters and I urge you to do so! I’ve also been using Gem’s spritz your pits trick which really does make your perfume last longer! What has amazed me most is that I can still smell it on me the next day, that has never happened to me before with a perfume. Amazing!
At £39.50 it isn’t cheap but I’d be happy paying that and will do when this bottle runs out.
I really hope Liz Earle brings out more scents in the future! You can find more information about the perfume here as well as all the other products Liz Earle offer.
This perfume couldn’t have come at a better time and will be my winter scent! My DKNY be delicious is on it’s last legs and literally has a drop left.
Have you got this perfume? Or smelt it at a counter? What do you think? :)

Perfect nails for winter ]

I’ve been wanting the Limited Edition Boots polish from Barry M for such a long time! It’s such a lovely colour and perfect for nails and toes. Even though it’s quite a summery colour I think it’s perfect when you want to add a bit of colour to an outfit during winter. One coat and it appears more pink, two coats and it’s more purple. I love the gold lid as well.
As the nail paints were 2 for £5 I couldn’t leave with just one could I!?! Navy (292) is the perfect winter colour and I can see me wearing it a lot. It’s got a gorgeous bright blue shimmer to it which you can just about see in the photo.
Have you picked up the Boots polish?

L'Occitane dry skin hand cream

Sorry I’ve been slacking so much this week, I haven’t published any comments or replied to them but I will do hopefully tonight :)
I’ve just started a Business and Admin course and am hopefully going to be getting a placement next week which will last 12 weeks. I’m in 9 till 4 every day which will take some getting used to, I usually get up whenever I wake up and haven’t had a proper routine for ages.
Early mornings + lazy evenings = a bad blogger, I hope you’ll forgive me!
I’m also off to Leeds for the weekend as it’s my friends house warming so I’ll try my best to get some post’s scheduled.

This freebie came with Instyle magazine when I went to London for the Eyeko event and has been in my handbag ever since.
I really don’t like the smell, it reminds me of old ladies soap. Sorry if that offends anyone! I chose the original as I though it wouldn’t smell of much but I’m regretting not trying one of the other two scents. Did you get any of the other two? Know what they smell like? Let me know!
I’ve kept on using it though as it’s a really good hand cream. It soaks in literally straight away, better than a lot of other hand creams that I’ve tried, which really impressed me.
I have eczema on my hands which can be irritated by some creams, especially in the winter when they are really dry, but this was really gentle. Perfect for my sensitive skin.
If I liked the smell I’d buy the full size but for £16 I can’t justify it. Maybe I’ll go into the shop and have a sniff of the others and see if there is one I like better.
You can read more about it on the L’Occitane website.
Hope you’re having a more relaxed week than I am! Have you tired this hand cream? Or are there any others you recommend?

Gogo Philip jewellery & giveaway

Quite a while ago I entered a competition to win some Gogo Philip jewellery which I had totally forgotten about until I opened an email on Thursday saying I was one of the lucky winners. The competition was to celebrate the Telegraph opening a new Fashion section to there website. I wanted to share with you what I won as I’ve fallen in love with everything and because the pieces are only available in some Topshop stores.

This was the one piece I was hoping to get and I’ve been wearing it everyday since. It goes with everything and is the perfect length, definitely want to get the other two necklaces similar to this one.

This chain necklace will be the perfect statement piece for many of my night time outfits, I love the detailing to it.

I also love the way it fastens as it means the necklace can be worn in many different ways.

As soon as I took this bracelet out of the bag I knew it would have to be worn with one of my blue dresses and Primark red chain bag. I’ll have to post outfit photos when I wear it.

I haven’t got my ears pierced I decided to give these lovely earrings to one of my readers by holding a really simple giveaway.
Giveaway will be open until 31st October, only for those living in the UK, must be a follower and simply enter a comment below.

Have you got any Gogo Philip pieces? What do you think of the ones I received?

September Favourites

Sorry this months favourites are a bit late! I wanted to publish my London posts first :)

I’ve been using Lush’s Demon in the dark and Sandstone soaps so much this month, I received them in my last Lush order as free samples but they are huge. Demon in the dark smells of mint with a hint of apples and lathers up beautifully. My sample of Sandstone didn’t have any sand in so I’ve been using it as a soap and once again lathers up really well. I’ll definitely be buying them myself once the samples run out.

I’ve been trying to pamper my feet this month and get them really smooth and soft. I’ve been exfoliating everyday with either Liz Earle’s energising body scrub or Amy’s toil & trouble scrub bar and following that up with The body shops hemp hand protector which I have reviewed here.

I’ve been using the combination of these three lip products so much this month! Benefits Dr feelgood lip balm is amazing and I wish you could buy it separately, it beats any other lip balm and is the perfect base for applying lip stick. I’ve been loving Mac’s Gaga lipstick with Barry M’s lip gloss tube in strawberry milkshake over the top, the two go so well together.

I've been using Urban Decays 24/7 eyeliner in Zero a lot this month, I'm not sure if I'll buy the full size as it's a bit pricey but I do love it.

Staying with Urban Decay I've been using the Naked palette nearly everyday, you can see swatches here.
For some reason this month my hair's gone a bit crazy. Whatever I put on it, whether it be a deep conditioner or a styling product my hair turns out horrible, even if I loved the product a month ago. This Aussie product is the only thing which doesn't do this and I've been using it every time I wash my hair.
What have you been loving this month?

Week in photos 004

001 Spent Sunday going round the National History Museum.
002 and then travelled back home via the train. My Ipod kept me sane.
003 I was welcomed home by this beautiful sunset.
004 I spent a long time trying to take photos of my NYX palette a long with swatches and failed badly. Lighting was not my friend this day.
005 My parents went away for the weekend to Leeds and the neighbours cat kept me company.
006 I won some Gogo Philip jewellery from the competition in which they partnered with the Telegraph. Here's a sneak peek
007 And another one. A blogpost will be up this week including a little giveaway.
008 I finally painted my nails, I haven't done so for like two months. A NOTD will be up this week as well.
What have you been up to this week?
